<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace;">During Quarantine, unable to further develop the Memory Room, I began knitting a quilt – or comfort blanket – to memorialise the present. I hope this is something that will be able to be passed down generations, along with the story of the Covid-19 crisis. The quilt is made up of individual squares, each one representing one day in lockdown since it started on the 24th of March. </span><span style="font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace; text-align: justify;">Historically, craft and knitting are associated with social interaction, especially among women. Although this cannot currently happen physically (or at least not within a 2-metre distance), it can be done virtually through videocalls. I find it interesting how the process of knitting becomes and automatic and almost unconscious whilst talking to someone. It symbolises a recording of a specific length of time, containing what has been discussed in conversation. As well as forming a bit of normality, it made me realise the importance of keeping in touch with loved ones as a way of tackling mental health and the ability to be open and share thoughts.</span></span></p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: 'courier new', courier, monospace; font-size: 14pt;">This installation focuses on an abstracted version of a childhood memory and the emotions that are attached to it. The shaped paintings outline the physical room in which the memory took place and includes objects such as the mirrors to emphasise atmosphere. Emotions are mainly displayed through the psychology of colour and how these colours interact with different mediums, textures and combinations to reveal an accurate and honest feeling.</span></p>
